ELIGIBILITYThe tournament is open to all secondary schools in NSW.

FORMAT

·         The tournament will be run in two sections
     –   Junior (Year 9 and under) and
     –   Open (any year).

·         Each team consists of three players.

·         Schools may enter more than one team in each section if they wish, space permitting (priority will be given to early entries).

·         Players within each team must play in order of strength with the strongest on Board 1. Strength order will be determined from the most recently published NSWJCL ratings. Any variation from rating order will only be by written permission of the NSWJCL's Tournament Coordinator and must be obtained before the day of the tournament. Rated players should be placed above unrated players unless the school has established (for example, from games played at school) that the unrated player is stronger.

·         Chess clocks will be used with a time limit of 20 minutes per player for each game. (Players unfamiliar with chess clocks will be given guidance and practice before the start of the tournament – please arrive early.)

·         The tournament will be rated.

·         There will be approximately seven rounds, with all teams playing every round (it is not a knock-out) – teams will play against others with similar scores, which means that, after the first round or two, they will be playing against others of much the same ability.

·         The rules of the tournament are available on the NSWJCL website www.nswjcl.org.au (under Schools) – to see the rules now click HERE.
