Central Coast Junior Tournament

Mingara Chess Club will again host the Mingara Junior Open Championship over the Christmas school holidays.

Where:  Mingara Recreation Club, Mingara Drive, Tumbi Umbi (on the Central Coast, off Wyong Road, between Wyong and The Entrance).

When:  Monday 16 January 2012, from 11 a.m. to about 4.30 p.m.

Eligibility: Players must be aged under 18 on the day of the tournament. We are expecting both beginners and experienced players, but as a minimum each player should know how to move the pieces. Instruction will be given for anyone not accustomed to using chess clocks. The field will be limited to the first 50 entrants.

Games:  Everyone will play seven games (Swiss system) with 15 minutes allotted per player per game (possibly extended in later rounds if time permits).

Trophies:  1st outright plus prizes for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd in several age divisions with 7-8 players in each division.

Entry:  The entry fee is $10 (payable on the day). Entries close Thursday 12 January.

Lunch:  The club has “no outside food” policy but has approved the bringing of snacks for players. Several eateries are available at the club.
