Allegro chess is chess played with a time limit of 15 minutes per player
(i.e. the same time limit as for the Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring One-Day tournaments)
Eligibility: Players must be members of the NSW Junior Chess League and under the age limit (under 8, under 10 or under 12) as on the day of the tournament.

Venue: Sydney Chess Centre, Level 1, 30A George Street, Burwood – see MAP – (approximately 2 minutes' walk from Burwood Railway Station). Note that the Allegro tournaments are being held at Burwood (not at Lidcombe where most of our other events are being held, nor at Bexley, where the Allegro tournaments were held two years ago.)
Time: Registration 9.30 to 9.45 a.m. on the day of each tournament. Play starts at 10.00 a.m. and finishes approximately 3.00 p.m. Participants must leave or be collected from the venue by 3.30 p.m.
Number of Rounds: Approximately 7.
Time Limits: 15 minutes per player for the whole game. Players unfamiliar with chess clocks will be given guidance and practice before play starts.
Prizes: Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and also for the highest placed girl.
Entry Fees: $15 (plus late fees if applicable). Closing date for entries: two days before the tournament. Late entries may be accepted up to 9.45 a.m. on the day of the tournament, upon payment of a late entry fee of $10 (per family). This late fee is reduced to a late payment fee of $5 if a phone or email entry is made before the day of the tournament. Late entries and late payments delay the start of tournaments – please enter (and pay) beforehand. To avoid delaying the start for others, late entries will be processed after play starts and late entrants will miss the first round. Players who arrive late (even if they have entered beforehand) will also miss the first round.
